net-news/blam-1.8.0 crashes when refreshing feeds on x86_64: The program 'Blam' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)'. (Details: serial 3652 error_code 2 request_code 25 minor_code 0) (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously; that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it. To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)
I can confirm this bug. I also get this exact same error with muine 0.8.3. It's interesting to note that both apps (blam and muine) run perfectly with the --sync option.
Now that it's confirmed that it happens to other AMD64 users as well, I'd add that it works flawlessly on my ~x86 system at work.
Well, the fact that it *works* when adding --sync certainly makes debugging this tough. I'm gonna scrounge the gtk-sharp bugzilla stuff to see if I can dig anything up. Meanwhile, if at all possible to get a backtrace in gdb, please do. Also, 'emerge info' for completeness couldn't hurt. Thanks.
When I add --sync I'm able to update the (default) feeds individually, but if I choose "Refresh All" it dies with this message: Unhandled Exception: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object in <0x00000> <unknown method> in (wrapper managed-to-native) Gtk.Application:gtk_main () in <0x00008> Gtk.Application:Run () in <0x00010> Gnome.Program:Run () in <0x00057> Imendio.Blam.Application:Main (System.String[] args) Here's my emerge --info: System uname: 2.6.12-rc5 x86_64 AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3200+ Gentoo Base System version 1.6.12 dev-lang/python: 2.4.1 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.8 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r6 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.5 sys-devel/binutils: 2.16-r1 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.18 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.11-r1 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="amd64 ~amd64" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-march=athlon64 -O2 -pipe" CHOST="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/lib64/mozilla/defaults/pref /usr/share/config /var/bind /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/splash /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-march=athlon64 -O2 -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoconfig distlocks sandbox sfperms strict" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://distfiles.gentoo.org http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/gentoo" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/home/mark/src/gnomage /home/mark/src/galago/ebuilds /home/mark/src/gentopia" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="amd64 X aac aalib acpi alsa apache2 artworkextra bash-completion berkdb bitmap-fonts cairo cdr dvd eds encode epiphany fam fbcon ffmpeg font-server fortran gd gif glitz glut gnome gpm gstreamer gtk gtk2 gtkhtml hal howl icq imap imlib innodb jabber jpeg mad matroska mbox mozilla mp3 mpm-worker msn mysql ncurses nls nptl offensive ogg oggvorbis openal opengl pam pcre perl png postgres python readline samba ssl svg tcpd theora threads tiff truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts unicode usb userlocales v4l vorbis xinerama xml2 xmlrpc xosd xpm xscreensaver xsl xv xvid xvmc zlib userland_GNU kernel_linux elibc_glibc" Unset: ASFLAGS, CTARGET, LANG, LC_ALL, LDFLAGS, LINGUAS, MAKEOPTS
Still an issue with the recently commited blam-1.8.2 combined with mono-1.1.9.2 in portage? Please report back. thanks.
Fixed with blam-1.8.2-r1, same problem and same patch as that added to muine.
