Yes please. I second this request. We need a x264 package as well.
Comment 2 Jason Huebel (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-09-16 11:55:10 UTC
I'd like to see this as well. Doesn't look like there are any releases of x264,
so an SVN snapshot may be necessary.
Comment 3 jb 2005-10-22 16:19:38 UTC
Now there is the x264-svn package, but mencoder doesn't recognise it, so it
pretty useless...
Mplayer ebuild has to be reworked.

I'd wait for a new x264 snapshot (in sync with the upcoming mplayer and ffmpeg
snapshot)

This ebuild does not work for me. When using it, some patches are not found (eg mplayer-1.0_pre6-ppc64.patch).
Furthermore, applying the two patches to mplayer-1.0_pre7-r1 does not provide x264 capabilities.

I just commented the line where mplayer-1.0_pre6-ppc64.patch apears in the ebuild file, that is,

#epatch ${FILESDIR}/${PN}-1.0_pre6-ppc64.patch

and then run,

ebuild mplayer-1.0_pre7-r2.ebuild digest

and finally,

emerge mplayer

x264 seems to work fine.
