I was able to start several Qt6 applications such as Kate, Qt6 designer, lximage-qt, pcmanfm-qt and all run fine. I ran `ldd` to make sure they were in fact linked to libQt6Gui.so.6 (which is a symlink to libQt6Gui.so.6.7.3) so I don't think the problem is directly related to dev-qt/qtbase.
I disabled the statusnotifier USE flag for lxqt-panel and the seg fault and dbus errors are gone.
Problem is fixed now at least with =lxqt-base/lxqt-panel-2.1.4
