Description Frank Russo 2005-05-27 20:45:29 UTC
When I select a directory in the left pane that contains flac files, easytag
goes to search that directory and crashes with the following output...

frusso@h2so4 ~ $ easytag
Starting EasyTAG 1.99.4 (PId: 1968) ...
Currently using id3lib version 3.8.3 ...
Currently using G_BROKEN_FILENAMES=1 ...
Loading default 'Fill Tag' masks...
Loading default 'Rename File' masks...
*** glibc detected *** free(): invalid pointer: 0x083cb60c ***
Aborted

All other file types seem to work appropriately (mp3, ogg, mpc). With version
1.99.3, all is well and I can tag FLAC files appropriately. Here is the
information on my installation

[ebuild R ] media-sound/easytag-1.99.4 +flac +nls +oggvorbis 0 kB
[ebuild R ] media-libs/flac-1.1.2-r1 +3dnow -debug -doc +ogg +sse +xmms 0 kB

Ping me if I need to produce a sample file.

Thanx Muchly,
Frank

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start Easytag
2. Explore using left pane to a directory containing flac files
3. Click the directory containg flac files

Actual Results:
Easytag crashes with error message in the bug details section

Expected Results:
No crash, flac files are displayed and editable (same as in 1.99.3)

I am weary of marking this "Critical", yet an application crash fits the
definition listed below.... Feel free to lower the severity if you are
upstreaming this.

Comment 2 Bret Towe 2005-07-12 13:56:25 UTC
i saw a similiar issue with flac files with .5 when scanning a dir of flac files
that had partial tags (main item of notice was title was empty and other bits
werent)
if there is no tags at all or has title it doesnt seem to have issues tho
recompiling glibc without the pointer check thing allows one to use it btw
Comment 3 Frank Russo 2005-07-12 17:44:17 UTC
Thanx for the Brett. I assure you that I have all tags (including the title)
populated.

Is this reproducible on 1.99.9?
Comment 5 Frank Russo 2005-11-08 15:51:06 UTC
will sync and give 1.99.9 a shot tonight

Comment 6 Frank Russo 2005-11-13 13:01:05 UTC
This is becomming frustrating. easytag now requires mpeg4ip, which won't
compile for two reasons.

1: It dumps out while compiling the huffyuv portion with gcc 3.4 and 3.3
2: Even though I removed faad2 and the faad use flag, I am unable to find all
the dependancies and my system still wants to install it. This blocks mpeg4ip
on a -uD world (although I can install it singularly).

I will see if I can work through the issues this weekend, but at this point,
it's looking like a bust. I probably won't bother, as I would like to play my
mp4 files (not just tag them).

Comment 7 Daniel Drake (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-11-13 13:27:03 UTC
It doesn't require it. Build with USE=-aac
Comment 8 Frank Russo 2005-11-15 17:22:16 UTC
Finally got a chance to sit down and try to repro the bug. Looks like 1.99.9
resolves the issue. Feel free to close this bug (I am marking as resolved).
