Same here, I am missing the German translations.

And what about Belgian people ? fr_FR is probably only for France. Does it mean that I need to reconfigure the locales to select also fr_FR ?
In fact I have also the fr_FR locale, but it still does not work.
fr_FR means french as spoken in france. the problem is you can't pick fr_BE for strawberry because it does not provide that localization. so, to compile french translation for strawberry, you have to live with the french variant even though living in belgium. setting just "fr" probably for most packages provides french as spoken in france anyway. if you added fr_FR to the locales after compilation of strawberry, you have to recompile strawberry. you should put something like this in your /etc/portage/make.conf (https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Localization/Guide#LINGUAS): LINGUAS="fr fr_BE fr_FR" of course if you prefer more languages, you should add them there too. and then recompile strawberry.
I have set LINGUAS as explained in make.conf. Unfortunately, it does not change anything.

Selecting the language in strawberry (instead of using system default) was easier.
upstream is maybe a better resolution than invalid. It looks very much like it is the bug I mentioned in comment 8. Previously, 'use system default' always worked, but this is not the case anymore.
