Description Mike Hepple 2005-05-25 14:05:02 UTC
Please add the XLink Kai program to portage.

XLink Kai is a program that you run on your PC or Macintosh that allows you to
play system-link / LAN-enabled games for your XBox, Playstation 2, Gamecube and PSP.

The software is referred to as what is known as a 'tunnelling' application.
There are various other single-console tunnelling applications available, but
XLink remains the only one to support all 3 major consoles...

In particular init.d support would be very helpful.

Ebuild for Xlink

Successfully compiled version 7.0.0.5, the recipe is:

* XLink Kai 7.0.0.5 (source code)
    http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/binary/7005base.zip

* SocketCC Class Library Version 1.38 (Released 11th Apr 2003)
    http://www.ctie.monash.edu.au/SocketCC/socketcc_1_38.tgz

* PThreadCC Class Library Version 1.11 (Released 11th Apr 2003)
    http://www.ctie.monash.edu.au/SocketCC/pthreadcc_1_11.tgz

* libPCAP (A system-independent library for user-level network packet capture)
    http://www.tcpdump.org/release/libpcap-0.8.3.tar.gz

Also note that Xlink Kai do not work without a fronted...

* libKaUI (encapsulates the networking part of the XLink KAI protocol in simple
functions)
    http://unc.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/libkaiui/libkaiui-0.1.tar.bz2

* gKaUI (GTK+ frontend)
    http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/libkaiui/gkaiui/

* KaiUIncurses frontend
    http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/libkaiui/ncurses_ui/

It's needed to contact upstream requesting an "snapshot" or a release in order
to not have a cvs ebuild.

Doesn't Xlink Kai Support (XBox, Playstation 2, Gamecube and PSP)
http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/faq.php# 1.1

ebuild should reflect info

Kaid 7.0.0.6 ebuild
Comment 8 Pandor 2006-03-15 03:57:36 UTC
Wouldn't it be better to create 2 ebuilds for PThreadCC and SocketCC and make the kaid (source) ebuild dependend on these (libpcap is already in portage).

btw: source for version 7.0.7 is released:
http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/binary/kaid-7.0.0.7-src.tar.gz

binary:
http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/binary/kaid-7.0.0.7-linux-x86.tar.gz

I might have a look into it, as soon as i have some spare time.
