Description thezombiehunter 2024-09-12 20:34:34 UTC
When using Wayland with gnome/mutter (x11 doesn’t work on this monitor) I experience tearing in the middle of the monitor in a straight line which is very distracting.

Does not happen on macOS/windows.

Monitor is a 5k lg ultrafine (27MD5KL-B) which has two display port signals and it merges them together into one image.

This tearing does not happen on regular monitors (I.e 4k monitors).

I would open an upstream bug report but I can’t figure out their system at all.

Please don’t suggest KDE… the monitor doesn’t work on it as they don’t support monitors with dual display signals.

Hardware:

7950x
128GB RAM
AMDIGPU with the 5k monitor connected over thunderbolt. (Gnome Wayland session on this gpu)
2080ti NVIDIA with no monitor connected (game runs on this gpu)

Software:

~amd64, gcc 13

I was on live chat and they told me I likely had a hardware issue (monitor defect).

But I can’t replicate this problem on windows 11 or macOS *shrug*
