Description pva 2024-09-03 13:01:22 UTC
There are options that are impossible to set in configure:
https://www.mongodb.com/docs/manual/reference/parameters/#mongodb-parameter-param.honorSystemUmask

The current openrc init script does not allow to pass these parameters. We need a way to do that. For example, adding the following to init script allows to pass optional parameters with the MONGODB_ARGS env variable:

command_args="--config ${config_file} ${MONGODB_ARGS}"

im not entirely sure why this is necessary.
we have SetParameter at the bottom of mongodb.conf, which should serve that purpose since mongodb does not support config reloading this should be pretty much considered to be "at startup"

in fact:

setParameter:
   processUmask: 011

works fine for me, tested on 5.0.29

There is a workaround for this specific case, but there are options that are impossible to set otherwise: https://www.mongodb.com/docs/manual/reference/configuration-options/#expansion-directives-and---configexpand.

But I don't even understand why we discuss this. There is a way to configure this in the systemd; it should be in the open as well. This is standard practice in UNIX systems, let's no ignore it.
