net-misc/gwhois-20050115 stable request - works fine overhere x86 for 2 months - no existing stable in cvs - no bugs-in-zilla
done. arches, please test and mark stable. thanks!
Hello, This is not an updated package, and our users aren't asking for this application. I don't see a reason to keyword it beyond the ~sparc it already has. If there is a non-arbitrary reason to keyword this, feel free to add sparc back to the CC and add that reason.
Who marked this ~amd64? I don't see any reason to mark this stable either. It seems to work OK, but I am not convinced it has received enough testing on amd64 and can find no bugs where it was tested or marked by anyone from our herd.
it's only a script (perl IIRC) and depends on various externals. when I initially committed it, I used the largest common arch keyword set of all dependancies.
Stable on ppc.
giving sparc and amd64 a chance to change their minds (see comment #4) :-) please just remove if unwilling to test and mark stable, thanks!
Nothing against the package, but if the users aren't asking for it...
First of all: "... I used the largest common arch keyword set of all dependancies ..." Please, don't do that. This is no the policy, best way to get things done is by respecting it: - http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/devrel/handbook/handbook.xml?part=2&chap=5#doc_chap2 - http://dev.gentoo.org/~plasmaroo/devmanual/keywording/ Otherwise, if i back to see this again, i will drop full alpha keyword. Note that this type of behavior is only getting you problems with arch teams so... live & learn :) Now, lets talk about the package: On x86 and alpha: if i run gwhois without parameters ... it hangs! Seems like an upstream problem. Before I marked it stable (and even ~alpha) I would like to see this solved. Thanks.
> On x86 and alpha: if i run gwhois without parameters ... it hangs! overhere on x86 gwhois works fine. starting it w/o parameters and then entering 'gentoo.org' or simple pressing enter gives correct output overhere - that there are no instructions to enter 'domain.dom' isn't very userfriendly, but that's how the app works ...
marked stable on amd64 as yoswink said, please stick to the policy in future

Oks! sorry my bad, someone upstream could consider the idea of improving the script in a userfriendly way, but .. it works, true. Stable on alpha.
