Description Emanuele Torre 2024-07-31 23:57:31 UTC
The github repo no longer exists; the code seems to now be hosted at
gitlab.com/dpeukert/light instead of
github.com/haikarainen/light.

Source: Archlinux AUR package for light
aur.archlinux.org/packages/light

N.B. I can't post URLs because my accont is too new; sorry.

"""
I nuked the upstream repo for this one the other day. There is no longer an official source for this package, nor backups. If you wish to keep this maintained, I recommend finding your most recent clone and effectively forking that.

@Tblue It's not counterproductive at all, I've been looking for maintainers for this software for years, its been officially orphaned for a full year, nobody has shown interest yet still I receive all kinds of emails about it demanding things. I don't care for this piece of software at all quite frankly I'm fed up with the open source community.

Thus, nuking it went precisely as planned for me. I understand that it makes reality a bit tougher for others though, but that's where they can pick up the slack, fork it, or write their own replacement.

And gitlab.com/dpeukert/light is just an archived mirror with no apparent development occurring there. dpeukert is currently maintaining this by just adding patches to the PKGBUILD.

This would unfortunately give a reason to tree clean this, especially as this package doesn't have a maintainer either.

Thank you for the response. I personally have no interest in this
package; I just filed this report because I noticed the problem while
looking for a package that installs 90-backlight.rules.

More details at #937028 if you are interested.

Have a nice day!
