Description David Duchesne 2024-07-28 00:06:21 UTC
Hello,
Recently stabilized dev-python/pip-24.1.2 pulls in dev-python/rich.
Would it be possible to make it optional with a USE flag ?
For example app-portage/gemato has the "pretty-log" USE flag to be able to avoid dev-python/rich (and the chain of dependencies..)
Please correct me if I'm wrong, maybe now dev-python/rich is mandatory and unavoidable for dev-python/pip ?
Thanks.

Reproducible: Always

I suspect it's really needed. It was just bundled before.

I forgot about the bundled dev-python/rich in previous stable...

Thanks for the link!
Well, it answers my question then, I've thought it was just about adding color but it does much than that ^^'

It's used all over the place.
