Description pogosyan 2024-06-29 19:47:23 UTC
I have CUPS server that serves two printers via cupsd/cups-browsed with option
BrowseRemoteProtocols none
BrowseLocalProtocols CUPS
BrowseProtocols CUPS DNSSD
among which one printer is discovered via DNSSD, and the other is locally attached. The printers served (from /etc/printca) are

hplaserjet|Lena's LaserJet 1200:rm=polarbear:rp=hplaserjet:
newlaserjet_net|Lena's Laserjet Pro M203dw
(shared):rm=polarbear:rp=newlaserjet_net:

The name of server is polarbear, and the IP is 192.168.1.10
Notice that on this side BrowseProtocols contains DNSSD, but there is no problem.

Now I try to pick up those queues on my laptop running cups-browsed with the following options
BrowseRemoteProtocols none
BrowseLocalProtocols none
BrowseProtocols CUPS DNSSD

In this configuration cups-browsed detects the printers (see the log) but then segfaults before creating the queues on the laptop. If DNSSD is taken out from the BrowseProtocols options, queues are created and I do not see segfault.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. launch cupsd/cups-browsed on the server with the options described
2. launch cupsd and cups-browsed on the client with option describde
3.
Actual Results:
segfault after served queues are detected, but before the local queues on the client are set

Expected Results:
Either create local queues, or exit gracefully if there is some misconfiguration with the debug diagnostics
