First off, this problem can be successfully triggered 100% of the time and the summary I'm using seems to be the first notice of the problem that I track down in dmesg and journalctl. The problem is triggered in a specific spot in the game "Outer Worlds: Spacer's Edition" on Steam, that I have running in gamescope-3.14.18 (built using a copy of the 9999 ebuild and set to that commit tag) because I'm running Hyprland-0.40.0-r1, and have the optional flag of using MangoHud-0.7.1-r5 to get systems stats. The game is using "Proton Experimental" to be ran in, so whatever version Steam has released for it. In the game, I can trigger this trying to complete the quest "Fistful of Digits" where I have to speak to the constable about turning in the 3 fingers. As soon as I press "E" to talk to her, *poof*, game locks up for seconds while everything is crashing, and I'm finally dropped to the TTY2 (I have it set to start Hyprland when I login on that TTY) login prompt. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Run "Outer Worlds: Spacer's Edition" from Steam with Proton Experimental in gamescope with 'gamescope -W 1920 -H 1080 --mangoapp -b -f -- %command%' as the launch options. 2. Play the quest "Fistful of Digits" 3. Try to complete the quest by speaking with the constable for the reward. I see other core dumps in journalctl but those are all after the kernel error.

Whereas I have triggered this problem several times by the procedure I outlined 100% of the time, even if it is a very convoluted means of triggering it. When 6.9.4 is released, I expect I'll be posting a comment to that same report saying it's still happening. During this waiting time, is there anything I can do to increase the debugging output on this so it's more than just a single line error or help this in other ways?
We'll follow the upstream bug and backport any fixes identified.
