dmesg output: dvb-bt8xx: A frontend driver was not found for device 109e/0878 subsystem 0000/0000 I am unsure how to debug this problem, however using the same .config on 2.6.9-gentoo-r9, everything works fine. Presumably there has been a dvb driver change. I am now running a stock 2.6.12-rc4 kernel and the problem does not exist. I am now running a stock 2.6.12-rc4 kernel > and the problem does not exist. So which kernel is this bug about? Also, don´t just copy .config back and forth between different kernel versions or even different kernel trees, it causes more problems than good, the same applies to using "make oldconfig" for this. Reopen if the problem persists after recompiling kernel from a fresh config and post the exact kernel version then.
The same problem occurs using a clean .config. In this latest trial, I am using "sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-2.6.11-r9". Every updated gentoo-sources kernel after 2.6.9-r9 has this bug.
Some frontends were lost after 2.6.9 and have been reintroduced over the following versions. Since 2.6.12 isn't far off, we'll just wait until it appears.
