Description JT Zemp 2005-05-19 01:45:29 UTC
I try to emerge nasm 0.98.39-r1 and get the following result:

configure: error: NASM requires ANSI C header files to compile

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge -av nasm
2.
3.

Actual Results:
# emerge -av nasm
....
>>> emerge (1 of 1) dev-lang/nasm-0.98.39-r1 to /
....
configure: error: NASM requires ANSI C header files to compile
....
!!! ERROR: dev-lang/nasm-0.98.39-r1 failed.
!!! Function econf, Line 485, Exitcode 0
!!! econf failed
!!! If you need support, post the topmost build error, NOT this status message.

Expected Results:
I expected the package to emerge.

# emerge -av nasm

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating dependencies ...done!
[ebuild N ] dev-lang/nasm-0.98.39-r1 -build -doc 0 kB

Total size of downloads: 0 kB

Do you want me to merge these packages? [Yes/No] yes

Emerge sync, upgrade your linux-headers to 2.6.8.1-r2, upgrade your toolchain
(gcc, glibc, binutils) to latest stable version etc., and try again. Reopen if
you still have problems. Your system is pretty outdated!

P.S. Just a note - remove the redundant double spaces from C[XX]FLAGS in
make.conf as well, causes problems with some ebuilds.
