A user on IRC mentioned that our coverage in Japan isn't great, but they noted ftp.riken.jp/ works well for them.

There's both https://ftp.riken.jp/Linux/gentoo/ and https://ftp.riken.jp/Linux/gentoo-portage/. We should reach out and ask them if they're OK with being on the official list.
