Description Bas van Dijk 2005-05-18 10:41:07 UTC
My sound sometimes works and sometimes doesn't.

I have a "SiS AC97 Controller" and I compiled the driver for it in the kernel.
Note that the error also occurs when using modules.

The kernel gives the following error while booting:

> dmesg
...

Please attach "emerge info" to every bug you submit.
Please test vanilla-sources-2.6.12_rc4

vanilla-sources-2.6.12_rc4 gives the same error.

This is my /usr/src/linux/.config:

And my /var/log/dmesg:

Comment 4 Bas van Dijk 2005-05-20 04:33:33 UTC
Like I said in my bugreport, my sound sometimes works and sometimes doesn't.
Well, I just booted my laptop and now it suddently works!

> dmesg

The only thing that was different from other boots was that my accu died just
before. But I don't know if that has something todo with it.

(Because my sound works now doesn't mean this bug should be marked 'resolved'.
Because when I reboot the sound might just stop working again.)
Comment 5 Eric Shattow 2005-05-24 08:38:46 UTC
there's a tool to grab register flags. don't reboot, ask on alsa-sound-devel.
Comment 6 Bas van Dijk 2005-05-29 14:20:59 UTC
I created an ALSA bugreport:

https://bugtrack.alsa-project.org/alsa-bug/view.php?id=1136

Please, let me know if I need to specify additional information in that
bugreport.
Comment 7 Diego Elio Pettenò (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-10-31 09:31:54 UTC
Let upstream handle this. And see if alsa-driver-1.0.10_rc2 works better.
