My LCD monitor in notebook does not shut down. it becomes black but it is still on(the screan is bright),It happens only in gentoo,in suse or ubuntu works fine. I am working on TOSHIBA SATELITE A60-302 notebook After exiting xServer(it doesn't work ther also) Monitor is in power off state but it can't be on so restart is needed. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.changing kernel 2.reconfiguring kernel 3. Actual Results: Nothin has changed Expected Results: Monitor should be shut down
Hmm, I really don
Hmm, I really don´t understand what you problem is... So DPMS does not work for you? Or you have problems with kernel and monitor stays on after turning off you laptop? What do you mean "changing kernel" and which kernel and version? Is X.org configured correctly? Does X.org even start (not sure what "it doesn't work ther also" actually means)? Much more information is definitely needed. Please reopen when you are ready.
Ok sorry I will try to explain it onec again... So when I am working in text mode (Xserver is not running...) and I stop working for a while I suppose that monitor should be turned off (like in windows when the laptop hibernates [sorry for mentioning this W word:)])instead of turning of there appears black screen but the screen is still flashing so it does not power off... The same happens when Xserver is running and I am working in KDE (I set power off monitor in Screen Saver settings ....) But when I want to exit Xserver(shut down it) and come back to the text mode I see only the black screen.... So the main problem is that monitor doesn't shut down in text mode and I thik that Xserver configuration is not improtant... I am using actual gentoo-sources kernel
(In reply to comment #2) Hmm, I
(In reply to comment #2) Hmm, I´d suggest that you check out this howto - http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Gentoo_on_laptops#Display If it still does not work and you are using nvidia drivers, add Option "DPMS" to your Device section as well. Also check your kernel settings with something like zcat /proc/config.gz | grep ACPI (or grep APM) and fix them if needed. As for the "blank screen" after terminating X.org - did you try CTRL+ALT+F1 ? ;-)
THANKS A LOT!! now it works fine:):)
