vpopmail uses .maildir instead of Maildir automaticly, should be a USE flag defaulting to .maildir if the goal is to keep in line with the gentoo system layout, however to maintain cross system compatability, there should be an option to use Maildir without haveing to hack the ebuild. This issue has arrisen for me in trying to migrate out RedHat e-mail server to gentoo. Maintaing a consistent system layout is nice, but so is interoperability. I sugest a dotmaildir USE flag that causes packages to use Maildir if set -dotmaildir Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.emerge vpopmail 2.wish you were compatible 3. Actual Results: incompatible structures are created. Expected Results: given option to create standard structures.
we won't take this change. look at in the files dir for vpopmail and you will find a migration script named vpopmail-Maildir-dotmaildir-fix.sh that you can use to quickly migrate instead.
