xmms2 will have bindings and whatnot for gtk2/gnome2. xmms only has these for
gnome1/gtk1 that is why. I would, if I were you, emerge xmms with USE="-gnome"
personally....

this configuration is working on an older machine

now i wanted to do the same on a new installed, and i got it.

when i do it, on the old machine, i get:

gentoo usr # emerge -pu xmms

These are the packages that I would merge, in order.

[ebuild U ] media-sound/xmms-1.2.7-r14

and when is xmms2 available for emerge ?
