galeon-cvs does *not* depend on >=gnome-2.0.0, it can be compiled with >=gtk+-2.0.0 and some other dependencies. Not everyone who uses galeon wants to use gnome...
amen.
galeon-cvs is a masked script and most likely will stay that. Galeon depends on our gnome package because a lot of the libs needed by galeon are mentioned in there (libgnome,gconf,gnome-vfs, etc.). As far as i'm concerned you have to take this ebuild as-is and if you want it changed for personal use, do so in your local copy. But it's spiders so i'll pass it on anyway.
Sorry, but it will stay dependant on >= gnome for now, mainly because galeon-cvs aims to interoperate into the gnome 2.2 desktop, that means it will use Gnome mime types, Gconf and gnome settings for proxy and other things. it is also slowly becoming completely bonoboized in the interface with dynamic menu additions, see the recent weeks threads and flames on galeon-devel list If you choose to use the -cvs build, you are brave neough to use --nodeps and see. I dont consider the effort worth it to keep up-to-date with moz gtk2 and galeoncvs to track the dependencies as they are changed .
