Upon compiling net-im/ejabberd-24.02, it immediately fails after downloading and unpacking due to `Command ''deps.get'' not understood or not applicable`.

No. I was able to successfully compile and install ejabberd 24.02 after the release of net-im/ejabberd-24.02-r1.
