Description Adel KARA SLIMANE 2024-03-07 22:11:47 UTC
Hello,

I cannot find Gentoo Foundation is on the benevitiy.org platform. It's a platform where employees donate (expertise time or money) to non-profits and the employer matches those donations to e.g. double them.

I'd like some information to request adding it there:

Organization name: Gentoo Foundation, Inc.
Organization website: gentoo.org (?)
Government ID: 2463313 (? should be the EIN for US non-profits)
Address: ?
City: ?
State/Province: ?
Type of organization: (Registered charity | Educational institute | Specific chapter of an organization | Other ) ?
Contact First Name: ?
Contact Last Name: ?
Contact Email address: ?

Thanks!

This has been asked previously.
Benevity rules require organizations to be federally recognized non-profits. In the USA specifically, this means 501(c) non-profits.

The Gentoo Foundation is recognized as a non-profit corporation by the state of New Mexico, but does not have federal recognition.

Further, the Gentoo Foundation is actively trying to merge under the SPI Inc's 501(c)3 entity.

Hello,

I probably didn't search well to find the previous answer to the same question.

Thank you for the clarifications, what happens when Gentoo goes under the SPI, one should donate to the SPI ?

Yes, donations will go to the SPI then, marked as for Gentoo
