Description CaptainBlood 2024-03-05 23:02:02 UTC
file-roller keeps segfaulting while navigating into some archives.
ark however doesn't fail with the same archive.

lto is everywhere here when size shrinks.

app-arch/libarchive does shrink so here.

Cancelling lto seems to have fixed file-roller archive browsing.

lto-filter is one of the feature I dislike the most.
Not ny nature, but because it requires human will to monitor persistence of related issues. Such task gets easily underlooked.

Reproducible: Always

Nevertheless filter-lto may be required here for a quite a while.

Your feelings are well-established, but let's focus on the matter at hand.

Please provide emerge --info and a full backtrace of file-roller's crash (https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Debugging#Per-package).

Although I tested back and forth yesterday with both file-roller & libarchive,
I couldn't trigger it again once rebuild with gdb activated.
