The cperl-mode that comes with the GNU emacs ebuild is outdated, a new version adds some useful fixes and features. Maybe there should be an ebuild for it? The compressed elisp file can be found here: http://math.berkeley.edu/~ilya/software/emacs/cperl-mode.el.5.0.bz2 So far, I just downloaded it and put it in the emacs/21.4/lisp/progmodes directory as cperl-mode.el, overwriting the previous one, however I'm not sure if it will be overwritten if I emerge a new version of Emacs.
