Description Karl Trygve Kalleberg (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-03-02 03:39:15 UTC
Some of the scripts included in the "official" AbiWord binary are not included
in our package, leading to missing TTF support

This is a bit of a tricky problem, apparently. To resolve it, we must:

1) Use Load "ttf" instead of Load "freetype" in XF86Config if we want TTF fonts
other than those in the XFree 4.2 distribution to work.
2) Symlink /usr/bin/ttftool into /usr/share/AbiSuite/bin/ttftool
3) Allow all abiword users to update /usr/share/AbiSuite/fonts

Also, whenever a user wants to add a new TTF to his system, he will need to
update the /usr/share/AbiSuite/fonts/fonts.{dir,scale} files very carefully
(cannot remove the AbiWord-specific fonts) in addition to putting them into
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/TTF where they belong.

I am tempted to write a short HOWTO on this instead of fixing it, unless we can
find a fix that's not a butt-ugly security risk.

Doesn't seem fixable even when following the official AbiWord HOWTO. Won't fix
until 0.99.3 is added.
