Description Joe Jezak (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-05-10 00:10:58 UTC
The Kernel Configuration section of the PPC Install Guide contains configuration options that are no longer present in the 2.6 kernel series. Since the PPC team no longer supports 2.4 kernels, these sections needed to be removed. Also, I've added in a warning to dissuade people from using kernel preemption on PPC as this is a recurring cause of bugs.

Comment 4 Shyam Mani (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-05-29 11:39:44 UTC
No version bump?
Comment 5 Sven Vermeulen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-05-29 12:05:40 UTC
JoseJX, you forgot the version bump (I told you that in the privmsg :)

Also, is this patch only for the current Handbook, or also for the
2005.0-specific one?
Comment 6 Joe Jezak (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-05-29 12:26:34 UTC
Bah, I knew I forgot something. :p Sorry. The patch is applicable for 2005.0
as are most of the ppc doc changes I've already made in the past. I wasn't
aware that I could update those as well.
Comment 7 Sven Vermeulen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-05-29 12:33:40 UTC
You could generate working patches for the 2005.0 documentation by using "cvs
diff -u -r <rev1> -r <rev2> <file>" for the files you have altered.

Anyway, that's a different bug, you can close this one off now :)
Comment 8 Joe Jezak (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-05-29 12:44:28 UTC
Closed then, thanks.
