Description Bharath Ramesh 2005-05-08 19:02:58 UTC
Whenever I boot into Linux udev fails to create /dev/sound directory needed for alsa oss emulation. It creates a character device /dev/sound as result of which the needed devices for alsa oss emulation dont created. If I manually rmmod snd-pcm-oss module and then remove then delete /dev/sound and modprobe snd-pcm-oss then the devices are created correctly.

I am running 2.6.10-gentoo-r6 kernel and udev-045

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Boot into linux with Alsa OSS emulation enabled
2.
3.

Actual Results:
character device /dev/sound is created

Expected Results:
a directory /dev/sound should be created with the appropriate character devices
in it.

I am using udev version 045

Can you try udev 056?
Comment 2 Bharath Ramesh 2005-05-10 04:54:55 UTC
The /dev entries are being created once I upgrade to 056.
