- in `gnome-default-applications-properties` set default web browser to firefox - in evolution, set HTML Mode: Only ever show plain - for a multi part mime email with no text part the content-types are: text/html; charset=us-ascii application/pgp-signature; name="signature.asc" text/x-vcard; charset=utf-8; name="<deleted>.vcf" - I get three "attachement" boxes ("unknown attachment", "detached OpenPGP signature attachment (signature.asc)", and "electronic business card attachment (<deleted>.vcf)" respectively. When I select the "open" arrow, the options are "save as" and "Open in Epiphany Web Browser...". There is no option for firefox. To get around it, I have to save the mime-part; open Nautilus; right-click on the saved file; select "open with another application"; select firefox; then go back to evolution and the options are now "Open in Epiphany Web Browser..." and "Open in Mozilla Firefox..." Should this work differently or is too obscure? oops, please replace When I select the "open" arrow with When I select the "open" arrow for the _first_ attachment
It sounds like gnome doesn't know about firefox. If I right click on an html file in nautilus, I get "Epiphany" "GVim" "Mozilla Firefox" and "Other application". Try this: right-click on an html file in nautilus, and select Properties. Go to the "Open With" tab. It probably doesn't list firefix. Click add, and add it, and then select firefox as the default. This should fix your evo problem (which appears to be a gnome problem, not an evo problem.)
It does indeed fix the problem, and this is exactly how I did the workaround (as I mentioned), but my point was: what is the gnome-default-applications-properties for, if evolution ignores it. If I set the default browser in gnome to firefox, should evo use that to open text/html parts of messages? Data shouldn't be entered in two places, ie nautilus right click, and g-d-a-p. It should be in one place only, or at least both places should somehow synchronise. So, either its an evo bug, because its ignoring g-d-a-p, or a nautilus bug, becuase its also ignoring g-d-a-p, or both... IMHO of course :)
please upgrade to evolution-2.6 ( just marked stable with GNOME 2.14 ) and re-open the bug if you can still reproduce it.
