Description Andreas Kotowicz 2002-10-15 16:19:48 UTC
I unmerge xfree 4.2.0 and emerged 4.2.1. didn't change the XF86Config file or

interesting.

Rebuild Pango (the Xft engine changed between X 4.2.0 and 4.2.1 ) That should
fix the problems you are having.

Comment 3 Andreas Kotowicz 2002-10-16 10:13:51 UTC
I unmerged and remerged Pango. I noticed that emerge fetched pango 1.0.5. it did
install but now I get following:
aborting...

** ERROR **: Failed to match any font. This could be due to a broken Xft
configuration, or if you run XFree 4.1.0 due to a bug in libXrender. For more
information about this, read http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=68030

aborting...

Well, i don't think this is a pango problem, but you might try and go back to
1.0.4 .

My guess is that it's fontconfig that is faulty. Try and run 'fc-cache' see what
it returns.
Comment 5 Andreas Kotowicz 2002-10-16 11:13:54 UTC
I won't downgrade to pango 1.0.4 as I also don't think it's a pango issue.
fc-cache doesn't return me anything.
Comment 6 foser (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-10-16 11:31:33 UTC
And fc-list does return a list of fonts ?
Comment 7 Andreas Kotowicz 2002-10-16 11:41:55 UTC
it doesn't. but now I unmerged and remerged freetype and fontconfig and it works!
Comment 8 foser (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-10-16 11:47:01 UTC
If fc-list didnt return any fonts, gnome2 doesnt have any fonts to use..
effectivly making it disfunctional. I'm sure now it does list fonts.
