Marking as wontifix - solution is to copy /usr/share/opentoonz/stuff/ .config/OpenToonz and run with -TOONZROOT /home/<user>/.config/OpenToonz -TOONZCONFIG /home/<user>/.config/OpenToonz This was not clear after installation. Did not think to 'OpenToonz -help' before opening bug. Mea Culpa. Note - I also found to avoid errors on shutdown, link .config/OpenToons/qss to .config/OpenToonz/config/qss - it looks for same files in two places, from what I can tell.
I think it'd be reasonable for the ebuild to warn/inform on this at least, but it seems weird that OpenToonz doesn't default to reading from /usr/share/opentoonz? (or did I misunderstand?) It should really fallback there.
