I have recently switched to gnome-2.10 (~x86 profile) but the apps covered by the gnome-control-center ebuild do not work. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. compile gnome-2.10 2. launch gnome-font-viewer or shares-admin 3. it stops here Actual Results: apps are segfaulting or return due to a critical error (symbol not present) su ~ $ shares-admin shares-admin: symbol lookup error: shares-admin: undefined symbol: gnome_app_set_contents su ~ $ gnome-font-viewer /usr/share/fonts/TTF/Vera.ttf segfaults the only aoo I have found working (from the administration menu) is boot-admin Portage 2.0.51.21 (default-linux/x86/2005.0, gcc-3.4.3-20050110, glibc-2.3.5-r0, 2.6.11-gentoo-r6 i 686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.11-gentoo-r6 i686 Pentium III (Katmai) Gentoo Base System version 1.6.11 distcc 2.18.3 i686-pc-linux-gnu (protocols 1 and 2) (default port 3632) [enabled] ccache version 2.4 [enabled] dev-lang/python: 2.3.5 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.3 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r6 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.5 sys-devel/binutils: 2.15.92.0.2-r8 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.16 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.11 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86 ~x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS=" -O3 -march=pentium3 -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.4/env /usr/kde/3.4/share/config /usr/kde/3. 4/shutdown /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/share/config /var /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/texmf/web2c /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS=" -O3 -march=pentium3 -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe -fvisibility-inlines-hidden" DISTDIR="/var/tmp/distfiles" FEATURES="autoconfig ccache distcc distlocks sandbox sfperms strict userpriv usersandbox" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://ftp.belnet.be/mirror/rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo/ http://ftp.heanet.ie/pub/gento o/ http://mir.zyrianes.net/gentoo/" LANG="fr_FR.UTF-8" LC_ALL="fr_FR.UTF-8" LINGUAS="fr ja" MAKEOPTS="-j5" PKGDIR="/var/tmp/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 X a52 aalib acpi alsa avi bash-completion berkdb bitmap-fonts canna cdr cjk crypt curl div x4linux dvd dvdr eds emboss encode ffmpeg flac foomaticdb freewnn gdbm gif gnome gnutls gphoto2 gst reamer gtk gtk2 hal howl imagemagick imlib ipv6 jabber jpeg ldap libg++ libwww mad matroska mmx mng motif mp3 mpeg msn ncurses nfs nls nptl nptlonly ogg oggvorbis opengl pam parse-clocks pcre pdflib perl physfs plotutils png python quicktime radeon readline samba sdl slang smp spell sse ssl svg s vga tcpd tetex theora threads truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts unicode v4l v4l2 vorbis xinerama xml xml2 xmms xv xvid zlib video_cards_radeon linguas_fr linguas_ja userland_GNU kernel_linux elibc _glibc" Unset: ASFLAGS, CTARGET, LDFLAGS
In fact it was just the fault of some LDFLAGS. recompiled control-center, gnome-system-tools and some dependencies and it works again. I let you close the bug with the right resolution flag.
Glad its working for you!
