Description David D. Huff Jr. 2005-05-04 08:59:46 UTC
This should not have been a "silent update" it should have been a normal update because now goes against what the profile was designed for and blocks.

BTW - Just try telling everyone that uses VMware 3.2 that they have to update that too because VMware 3.2 will not work above kernel-2.6.8 another reason too keep the profile working.

emerge sync && emerge -Dup world displays:
These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating world dependencies |
!!! All ebuilds that could satisfy ">=sys-kernel/linux-headers-2.6.5" have been masked.
!!! One of the following masked packages is required to complete your request:
- sys-kernel/linux-headers-2.6.8.1-r2 (masked by: profile)
- sys-kernel/linux-headers-2.6.11 (masked by: profile, -* keyword)
- sys-kernel/linux-headers-2.6.8.1-r4 (masked by: profile, ~x86 keyword)

For more information, see MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge man page or
section 2.2 "Software Availability" in the Gentoo Handbook.

!!! Problem with ebuild app-text/docbook-sgml-dtd-4.2-r1
!!! Possibly a DEPEND/*DEPEND problem.

!!! Depgraph creation failed.

What are you complaining of? I don
Comment 2 Jakub Moc (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-05-04 09:12:21 UTC
What are you complaining of? I don´t understand - vmware, glibc, profile, kernel, all mixed together. Also you failed to post emerge --info so we even don´t know what profile is causing problems to you.

Never mind I had USE="nptl". I'll shoot myself soon as I finish lunch. Please disregard.
