Everytime I get rsync10.us (clarkson) in the rotation, portage emits the following when I try an emerge -uDf world (which I have scripted in after the sync in my sync script): emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy ">=x11-libs/motif-config-0.9". !!! Problem with ebuild kde-base/kdegraphics-kfile-plugins-3.4.0 Sure enough, the latest version I have after syncing there is 0.1, while the version I have installed, and available after resyncing and getting another rotation, is 0.9. This has been occuring since at least 2005-04-23 10:13 PST, as I initially thought it was a security or similar rollback and filed bug #90142, so the problem has existed for >10 days, now. Could this be residuals from the software upgrade mentioned in bug #81849? Manually checking http://mirror.clarkson.edu/pub/distributions/gentoo-portage/x11-libs/ indicates the motif-config subdir hasn't updated since 16-Feb-2005, the time of the 81849, altho other subdirs appear to be updating properly, with the latest date appearing to be 04-May-2005 07:06. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Sync from rsync10.us and see what versions of motif-config exist. Actual Results: Only motif-config-0.1 exists, while the rest of the gentoo world has 0.9 available. Expected Results: Give me an up-to-date tree! emerge info shouldn't be relevant, as I've verified the status of the dir on the mirror manually.
Retested by setting SYNC="rsync://rsync10.us.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" specifically, in make.conf. The problem appears to be resolved, which is cool, since that server always seems to respond relatively fast =8^), unlike some of the rotation servers, which appear to be overloaded at times, and trickle data in at dialup speeds =8^(. (4Mbps cable modem, here.) Thanks, clarkson! (Now off to reset make.conf, so I don't abuse a single server, fast tho it may presently be. <g>)
