After a new installation of gentoo and emerge of KDE 3.4 on my amd64, KDE is unwilling to sftp using the sftp:// kioslave, giving the following error: An error occurred while loading sftp://user at host: Error. Out of memory. Could not allocate memory for SFTP packet. This problem has been solved in KDE CVS, as well as the patch for kdebase-kioslaves is directly applyable at emerge-time. Please see the URL for this bug for the patch (KDE bugzilla). I formally request the kdebase-kioslaves split ebuild and any other applicable ebuilds be updated to include this patch if running on amd64. As a temporary workaround, you can use fish:// with the same paramaters as the sftp:// request. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Emerge kdebase-kioslaves and other KDE packages nessicary to get Konqueror running on an amd64 machine. 2. sftp:// to a host using Konqueror. 3. Witness the error. Actual Results: The aformentioned out of memory error. Expected Results: Successful connection and use of sftp:// as a virtual filesystem in KDE applications. Also discussed on the Gentoo forums: http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-2326380.html#2326380
Can the patch provided (which works) on http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=102103 please be added to the kdebase-kioslaves ebuild? Cheers
Is there a patch for this single issue? The one provided covers multiple things and is a bit heavy. Consider also that kde 3.4.1 should be released really soon...
Will be closed with 3.4.1's release next week.
3.4.1 is out, closing this Bug, please update in order to fix this Bug.
