Running famd ( File Alteration Monitor Daemon ) prevents me from emptying the trash if I delete files on a network server. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. start famd 2. mount a samba share 3. delete a file via nautilus 4. right-click on the trash icons and select 'empty trash' Actual Results: 'Directory is busy' error, with retry / skip / cancel options. Expected Results: Trash is emptied. After trying *many* times, I stopped famd, and this immediately allowed me to empty the trash. Discussion of a *semi*-related bug is: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=102760
bug mentioned previously is covering the issue ( but not yet solved ). UPSTREAM.
This is why we want to move to gamin instead of fam.
I take it there are currently issues with moving to gamin, otherwise you wouldn't have said 'want to move to'? Or is it a drop-in replacement?
