Did you try to install the new version by renaming the ebuild?
Did you need some changes to the ebuild?
Does it still work properly for you?
Does it have any improvements?

Ok, i tried to do it by renaming ebuild. It's necessary to change
SRC_URI="http://download.gna.org/eagleusb/eagle-usb-2.1.0/${P}.tar.bz2"
to
SRC_URI="http://baud123.free.fr/eagle-usb/eagle-usb-2.3/${P}.tar.bz2"
Without that drivers could not be downloaded.
It works for me fine on amd64, so on x86 should works also.
Improvments? Pasted from eagle-usb:
* FHS compliant
* patch to make it work for AMD64 (should still work for PPC) since EagleUsb200
* updated ISP list (BenoitAudouard) + ISP database + new languages + utf-8
* it works for Sagem Fast 800 E3 (based on Eagle-Usb III chipset) (new DSP code included)
