I am not sure, I have seen requesting removal or replacement leafpad to l3afpad the GTK-3 version. Here https://bugs.gentoo.org/775893

There has been new version 0.8.19 release , in 2022 in december on the http://download.savannah.gnu.org/releases/leafpad/?C=M&O=D website.

The official website which is in the ebuild description. http://tarot.freeshell.org/leafpad/ does not mention version 0.8.18 version which is in portage. 

Please correct the description URL in the ebuild. 

It looks tarot the autor is on gnu.savannah but missed to update the website.

And bump to the latest release.
