Description Grant Goodyear (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-04-30 17:42:21 UTC
Under the heading of opt-in virus scanning, it would be nice if d.g.o had clamav installed with clamd running, as well as having clamassassin installed to use clamd. That way devs who wish to do so could virus scan e-mails by adding a clamassassin to their procmail rules.

oh y
Comment 2 Lance Albertson (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-04-30 19:00:22 UTC
I haven't really had a chance to use clamav myself, would any of you like to provide some info on the best way to set this up if we were to use it?
Comment 3 Spider (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-05-01 01:21:28 UTC
best way is to allow the clamd daemon to run, and to make sure that only daemon-based scanning is allowed. Clamassassin is a wrapper for it that makes it easy to use/interface.

I have experience with clamav, I can install it on toucan this week if we agree to test/implement it.
Comment 5 Lance Albertson (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-05-02 14:00:26 UTC
Do any of you guys have any objections/concerns if we implement this?
Comment 6 Kurt Lieber (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-05-03 12:07:40 UTC
no objections. only concern is the additional load it places on toucan. I'd suggest we install it and give it a go, with the understanding that, if it bogs the system down, we may have to remove it.
Comment 7 Lance Albertson (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-05-04 11:15:33 UTC
Implemented, lets see how toucan deals with the load.
