Description Bertrand Lorentz 2005-04-30 09:48:03 UTC
I did an "emerge sync" on Apr 29, 2005 20:55:20 UTC and got updates.
THe next morning all my "emerge sync" failed with the following message :

>>> Timestamps on the server and in the local repository are the same.
>>> Cancelling all further sync action. You are already up to date.

My /usr/portage/metadata/timestamp file reads "Fri Apr 29 17:39:06 UTC 2005".

I tried to sync several times with SYNC="rsync://rsync.europe.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" and SYNC="rsync://rsync.namerica.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" but got the same message.

My guess is the updates are not getting to the mirrors, or the timestamp files are not updated.

Reproducible: Always

Hi there,

I got the same issue:

cat timestamp
Fri Apr 29 17:39:06 UTC 2005

And I bet Bertrand and I didn't sync the exact same second yesterday :-) I tried rsync.informatik.rwth-aachen.de, raptor.gentoo.org, crane.gentoo.org and cockatoo.gentoo.org.

Seems like something went a little wrong :-)

Cheers

Sebastian

Ah, it's working again. I was able to sync now.
cat /usr/portage/metadata/timestamp
Sat Apr 30 18:07:11 UTC 2005

Great! Thanks to whoever fixed it.

Cheers

Sebastian
