i updated my system, which happened to include postgresql-8.0.2 from 8.0.1-r2 and had several packages break: 1) RT (a perl app for apache) failed.. this was fixed by re-emerging DBD-pg 2) php broke, fixed by re-emerging php and mod_php Shouldn't the update to postgresql have triggered these packages to be rebuilt because they depend on libpq.so? the current postgresql ebuilds don't remove old libpq packages. this problem will not happen again.
