The new release (2.1.1) is in beta at the moment and will be released soon. It includes a lot of changes that make zlib-ng pretty competitive. Can we get the beta release under a ~ keyword? https://github.com/zlib-ng/zlib-ng/releases/tag/2.1.1-beta2 I can author the ebuild, but I assume the package maintainer would rather do it.
Sorry, I thought I'd tagged this bug. I ended up looking at this, then finding they'd broken the test setup to need network. Then the release come out. Anyway, it's in tree as of a few days ago. Thanks.
Awesome. An official robust fix for that powerpc little endian bug is forthcoming, I'll file a PR some time in the next week or so that does a compile time check for that GCC bug. In the interim, does gentoo provide a way to restrict compilers for an ebuild?
