When you do not configure network at bootup (like a laptop roaming within various WiFi networks), exim won't start. requires net in /etc/init.d/exim has to be commented out. I doubt exim really needs the network. Maybe removing it would help? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.disconnect network 2.boot machine 3. Actual Results: exim isn't running Expected Results: exim is running
RC_NET_STRICT_CHECKING="none" or "lo" in /etc/conf.d/rc should solve this (needs ~arch baselayout). Otherwise, I really doubt that MTA really _not_ need network.
Actually it shouldn't 'require' it but 'use' it if its available. One of the advantages of running a full MTA on a laptop is you can 'queue' mails and they'll be sent whenever you have network Cheers, Ferdy
