procps has a new maintaner.  Lots of bug fixes and upgrades applied.  Current
version is 2.0.10.

I should have read the rest of the thread first.  The above maintaner started a
short while ago under the impression that procps was not being maintaned.  Well
it was at http://procps.sf.net/ and is up to version 3.0.2.

All versions are currently in portage keyword masked, except for the lastest
release from the main tree, which wasn't maintained for the last 2 years until
after http://surriel.com/procps/ released their updated versions....they seem
superior IMHO
