Description Dan Andresan 2005-04-27 03:17:40 UTC
stable amd64 gst-plugins-flac-0.8.7 is DEPEND="=media-libs/flac-1.1.0*"
flac-1.1.1 was made stable on amd64

flac was updated, and at the next emerge -uDav world it wants to be downgraded

gst-plugins-0.8.8 is DEPEND=">=media-libs/flac-1.1.1" but it's not amd64 (just x86 and ~amd64)

solution: either set back flac-1.1.1 as ~amd64 or make gst-plugins-0.8.8 amd64
one of them should be chosen, otherwise the system is upgrading and downgrading flac all the time

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

From gstreamer team: maybe now is time to make gstreamer 0.8.9 stable on amd64 and all the gst-plugins 0.8.8 stable on amd64. They work well on my amd64 box and I use them heavily for streaming

Dan: yah its unfortunate, flac changed its ABI in a minor release hence gst-plugins 0.8.7 only works with 1.1.0 and gst-plugins 0.8.8 with >= 1.1.1.

thanks for reporting, gstreamer-0.8.9-r3 as well as gstreamer plugins which have been approved as been stable are now marked as such
