Description Jeff Lewis 2005-04-21 18:35:33 UTC
Tring to emerge the latest php (upgrading from php-4.3.8 to php-4.3.11), it always fails in the 'Configure extensions' portion where it tests if c++ is working:

...
checking whether the C++ compiler (g++ -mcpu=pentium3 -march=pentium3 -O3 -pipe
-mno-sse2 -L/usr/lib  -L/usr/X11R6/lib -ltiff -L/usr/lib -Wl,-rpath,/usr/X11R6/lib -L/usr/X11R6/lib -Wl,-rpath,/opt/blackdown-jdk-1.4.1/jre/lib/i386/server -L/opt/blackdown-jdk-1.4.1/jre/lib/i386/server -Wl,-rpath,/opt/blackdown-jdk-1.4.1/jre/lib/i386/native_threads -L/opt/blackdown-jdk-1.4.1/jre/lib/i386/native_threads -Wl,-rpath,/opt/blackdown-jdk-1.4.1/jre/lib/i386 -L/opt/blackdown-jdk-1.4.1/jre/lib/i386 -Wl,-rpath,/usr/qt/3/lib -L/usr/qt/3/lib) works... no
configure: error: installation or configuration problem: C++ compiler cannot create executables.

I also tried emerging with -postgres in USE vars, thinking the /usr/lib/libpq.so warnings were the prob, but I still get the same error.

I've had this up on the forums for a couple of days, with no response. Sorry if this is a lame config problem on my part. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Jeff

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge --oneshot --verbose ">=dev-php/php-4.3.11"

Actual Results:
The emerge bails when it fails the test to see if c++ is working.

Expected Results:
That emerge would be successful.

This looks like QT wants FreeType functions which it cannot find. Try reemerging QT or run revdep-rebuild. HTH.
