Bug 89849 – 8 bit window crashes >xorg-x11-6.8.0-r3 in 8+24 bit mode (matrox g450)

When an application tries (need to use one that requires that mode) to open a 8bit window in the 8+24 bit overlay mode of the matrox g450 card, X dies and restarts without further details in the logs. Up to version 6.8.0-r3 this worked fine. (Currently running 6.8.2-r2, tried various other versions.

Could you please try 6.8.99.3 to see whether it's working there? If not, file an upstream bug at bugs.freedesktop.org and post the URL here, so we can track it.

Either way, please reopen when you have results.

xorg-6.8.0-r3 is in portage no longer. As this was the last version where the required feature worked, could you reinclude the ebuild or at least send me a copy? (I don't have it anymore)

http://viewcvs.gentoo.org/ has the ebuild. If there are files you can't find, lemme know.
