when emerges media-video/mmsv2 I get the following error

*** Please downgrade/upgrade C compiler to version gcc-2.95.x or gcc-3.x ***

gcc 2.96 is well known for being broke. Please use a supported compiler.

Error: bad gcc version

This has only started occuring since moving to gcc 3.3.5-20050130


Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge media-video/mmsv2

Actual Results:  
Get the Error: bad gcc version error.
