A feature that I think can enhance documentation tremendously is 'user-contributed notes' as the php documentation calls it. All gentoo documentation should have an annotation feature along similar lines. The idea is that frome time to time the discussion is moderated by the document maintainers and any usefull information is incorporated into the actual manual page. New additions could be propagated by mail subscriptions and/or rss feeds for any interested parties. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
We have neither the server back-end not the manpower for this. FYI, doc improvement can be done by talking to us on #gentoo-doc (freenode) or on the gentoo-doc@gentoo.org mailing list and by creating bugs about improvements, or even better by submitting patches.
So there's server back-end for forums.gentoo.org but not for some doucument annotations... What manpower would be needed? We are not talking about a support desk here, just annotations.
A few full-time documentation developers. These wouldn't "just be annotations", you'll have comments on the installation procedure you won't imagine. Check the forums already, the busiest one is on the installation. Even when I'm 24/24 I can't keep up with it :p
