imho since there really should not be any other value one would set the host 
type to, econf should do it for you ... 
 
 Host type: 
  --build=BUILD           configure for building on BUILD [BUILD=HOST] 
  --host=HOST             configure for HOST [guessed] 
  --target=TARGET         configure for TARGET [TARGET=HOST]
